ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Jacob Grimm (1785-1863) and Wilhelm Grimm (1786-1859) were German folklorists and philologists, famously known as the Grimm Brothers. Born in Hanau, Germany, they are best remembered for their collection of fairy tales, "Grimm's Fairy Tales" ("Grimms' Märchen" in German).

The Grimm Brothers dedicated their lives to the study of language, literature, and folklore. Their collection of fairy tales, first published in 1812, included timeless classics such as "Cinderella," "Snow White," "Hansel and Gretel," and "Little Red Riding Hood." Their work aimed to preserve the rich oral storytelling tradition of Germany and other European regions.

Beyond fairy tales, the Grimms were pioneers in the field of linguistics and played a vital role in the development of the German dictionary. Their comprehensive dictionary project aimed to document the German language's history and evolution.

The legacy of the Grimm Brothers is profound, as their fairy tales have transcended time and culture. Their contributions to folklore, linguistics, and literature continue to be celebrated, making them enduring figures in the world of storytelling and scholarship.
